What are modern school portraits? a modern school portrait is an authentic and timeless portrait of the child, however there are no forced smiles, no cheesy backgrounds, just genuine personality. Your child’s gallery will contain images in both a vertical and horizontal orientation, color and black and white. See a sample gallery HERE.
Do I need to purchase prints ahead of time? No, you will be able to view the images in a private online gallery and purchase only those you want to buy.
What items do you sell? I sell prints, digital downloads, and a few specialty items. All items are purchased online so you don’t have to worry about sending checks or cash with your child..
What color backdrops do you use? I use a solid color backdrop or the natural elements of the outdoors for a background. Information on the backdrop / background color will be sent out before picture day.
How long til we see the photo galleries? The online galleries will be released within 5-7 days after portrait day.
Where will I be able to see the photos? Your child will be given a paper to bring home on picture day with instructions on how to view the images. Each child’s gallery is password-protected. The website and password are on the paper sent home with them. You can pre-register with the code at the gallery site right away and you’ll be notified via email or sms messaging when the gallery is live. if you have more than one student, enter all the codes and you will be able to see all the images in one album. How much do the photos cost? Prints start at $10. Our collections are competitive with the big box companies, oftentimes less expensive.
What should my child wear? Does your child wear a uniform? Most schools that have uniforms require the students wear them for fall photos, as they are typically used for yearbook pictures. It’s best to check with your school administration. If your child’s school doesn’t have uniforms, your child should wear something that he or she feels both comfortable and confident wearing. Graphic t-shirts and neon colors will stick out in images, compete with the subject for attention in the photo, and are not encouraged.
What else should I do to prepare my child for photos? If you will be having your child’s hair cut for pictures, it’s best to do it 7-10 days ahead of photo day. Check your child’s outfit before dropping them off at school. We ask the school to provide volunteers to get mouths wiped, flyaway hairs under control, and lint off clothing. Please note, not all children are receptive to these measures and we do not force any child to do something they don’t want to do.
Can I have my kids get pictures taken together? We love to get siblings together for photos! We will check with your school to see if that is an option.
Do you offer retakes? The only time we offer retakes at the school is if we had technical issues with our equipment. If a parent is unhappy with their child’s photos, we ask you to contact our office and let us know. Depending upon the situation, we may offer a retake in the studio within a limited time frame.
