5 Tips for a Great School Picture Day!

5 Tips To Have The Best School Day Ever!

All around the country, students are either back in school or getting ready to start the school year.  Parents know what that means…. Picture Day is coming soon!  School photos are a wonderful way to document your child’s school years, but also to capture their evolving personality over the years.

Even though my team and I do our best to make sure the child’s hair and clothing are in place, there are some things parents can do to help ensure a successful school portrait. Here are 5 tips on how you can help prepare your child have the best Picture Day ever!

 1)    If you’re having your child’s hair cut for picture day, schedule the appointment for at least a week before. This allows the hair to settle and decide which way to style.

 2)    Have your child get a good night’s sleep the night before. Your child will be well rested and refreshed for pictures. If he or she is tired, that will show in the photos.

 3)    Feed your children before they get dressed. So often, the children are dressed first, then eat, and run out the door for school. By eating first, then changing clothes, the child’s outfit will remain nice and clean for pictures .

 4)    Pick a comfortable outfit, something the child feels confident wearing. If the child is uncomfortable in the outfit, it will show in the images. A muted, solid color is best. Bright colors tend to wash out the skin tones and pull the focus off the child’s face. Graphic t-shirts and neon colors not only affect skin tones and take the focus off the child as well.

 5)    School pictures capture this time in your child’s life, and as parents, we know our children always don’t look as perfect as we’d like for photos. Whether your child is missing a front tooth, wearing braces, or has a cowlick with a mind of its own, you will cherish these pictures for years to come. School photos are a treasure that show the timeline of your child’s growth over the years.

Picture Day is sure to be relaxing and enjoyable for you and your children with these 5 tips in mind!
