Hello, out there!

My analytics say lots of new people have visited my website, so I thought it appropriate to do a little intro of myself to the new visitors! I’m Carol Davis, owner & photographer at Desertbloom Photography Services, located in the Las Vegas Valley Area (the hot Mojave desert!).

In a nutshell, I’m an East Coast chick (born & raised in Philadelphia, PA), living in the desert (Navaaaada to you non-locals), craving the mountain-coastal life (a cabin nestled at the base of the mountains, on a slightly high-bank and stairs down to the beach). My hubby and I moved our family here 20 years ago ( I never, ever thought we’d be here that long). When I’m not working, I’m crafting or binge-watching House Hunters Big Sky or Beach Hunters.

5 Things you may not know about me:

 1)    I come from a family of redheads. My parents both had red hair. My brothers and I have red hair. I co-created three more gingers. I can’t wait to see which of my kids has red-haired babies!

2)    I’m addicted to the Mitford Series by Jan Karon. I need something gentle and peaceful to read before I go to sleep. My friend recommended the series to me. I’ve read through all 13 books at least 10 times. I know, that’s a lot. But I sleep well when I do.

3)    I consider jelly beans a vegetable. The darker the vegetable, the more nutrition it has, right?

4)    Both hubby’s and my family had 3 boys and a baby girl. We felt the need to outdo our parents and had 4 boys and a baby girl.

5)    When life gets too heavy and I need to refresh my soul, I hop in the car with a good playlist, my camera, and a cooler of Trader Joe’s goodies and go on a little photography adventure.

Did you know…

That my first photography feature was on the Pioneer Woman’s blog? It technically was a mess, especially with old Lightroom presets, but I loved the photo and so did she. Fortunately, my work has improved and my clients love the images I deliver.

I’ve photographed several types of genres, from portraiture to volume to product. I’ve been known to crawl out on rock ledges, lay on the ground, or walk out in waist-deep water to get the shot. Whatever it takes…

I would say I’m most passionate about creating amazing school photos for families. What kid doesn’t love seeing their school photos framed and displayed throughout the house? I love working with preschoolers, I love working with teenagers, I love working with kids of all ages!

That’s pretty much my WHY for doing what I do. I am blessed to use my talents to help others make their dreams come true. What about you? What are you passionate about? I’d love to hear!
