Traveling Ugly Vase Challenge, Part 2

You. may have read my post about a photography project I’m participating in, if not… here’s the link.

I received this vase late January and thought it definitely qualified for the ‘ugly vase challenge’, haha.

You’d think it’s easy coming up with ideas for photo layouts to make this vase look good, and you’re right! It is easy. What’s hard is making the vision in your head match what you see on your camera’s LCD screen. This one was hard!

I was going nuts trying to get this to come together. I tried different types of flowers, backdrops, jewelry, etc. Not as easy as one would think. I scoured as many thrift & antique stores here in Las Vegas to find the right props to go with. NADA!

I was on a deadline to get the photos done and get the vase in the mail to the next gal in our circle. So I just made myself do something!

Like I said, it was hard. I did find this really cool piece of wood though and used it for a surface. I added some pale white rose petals, my grandmother’s pearls, and a lace doily from my other grandmother. My backdrop is handmade, I mixed spackle and paint and used a putty knife to spread over a foam-board surface.

I’m not sure which vase I’m getting next, I’m a little worried, haha!
