A little R & R

I planned a surprise birthday trip for McGyver and I to head up to the PNW to see our oldest son, Sailor Boy, and his sweet wife, Sailor Girl. Our trip was short but packed with beautiful scenery, long walks, photo ops, good food, and most importantly, good company. This Las Vegas gal really needed a vacation

We spent one day exploring the quaint shops in downtown Poulsbo, drinking coffee, and enjoying the sun. We even shopped together in the local quilt store :). We admired the sailboats, dreaming about ‘someday…’, went to a fabulous aquarium, had more coffee, hit the bakery, just a wonderful, lazy day.

McGyver and I did a little exploring the next day while the Lieutenants were at work. We explored Seabeck and walked some beaches and trails. It’s so different and beautiful. I’ll admit I felt a little claustrophobic while on the trail with all those big trees looming OVERHEAD!

Our final day was spent exploring, albeit by accident, several parts of the greater Seattle area. We decided to stop at Poulsobohemia and get a cup of their delicious coffee for the road. As we drove up the ridge, we saw nothing but sunshine. As we started driving down, we saw Poulsbo and Liberty Bay were covered in fog. It was a Las Vegas photographers’s dream! The fog stayed long enough for me to get several photos and I’m grateful for the opportunity. It was just the icing on the cake for this desert gal.

Our visit was short, but oh so sweet. I can’t wait to see the kids again!!
